A cake craze, born from the desire to reconcile my craving for a chocolate cake and that of children for caramel popcorn . :)) It's nothing complicated and elaborate, but it's definitely very effective.
Before moving on to our recipe today, I want to thank you very much for voting for me in the BlogChef contest, thus managing to reach the final. On Saturday I will go to Bucharest where I will cook 2 yogurt recipes in a cooking show. The jury will be watching the finalists, you hold my fists, okay? :)))
- For the countertop:
- 100 g milk chocolate
- 100 g butter
- 100 g sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 vanilla sugar
- For caramel:
- 100 g sugar
- 50 ml whipped cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
- For the chocolate icing:
- 50 g dark chocolate
- 50 g butter
- 2 tablespoons evaporated / condensed milk
- 1 microwave bag of popcorn with salt
Black and chocolate and popcorn preparation:
The broken chocolate pieces and the diced butter are melted over a low heat or in the microwave. We don't heat it too much, just enough to homogenize. Add the sugar and vanilla sugar and mix until you get a fluffy cream. Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each one. At the end, incorporate the flour mixed with baking powder and cocoa, mixing lightly with the mixer.
We pour the composition in a tray (20/20 cm) lined with baking paper or well greased with oil and lined with flour. Bake on medium heat for about 40-45 minutes. The countertop will be firm to the touch (like a sponge 🙂) and will have small cracks on the surface. Remove the top on a grill and leave it to cool.
Melt the chocolate over low heat together with the butter and condensed milk. Homogenize and leave to cool.
The chocolate layer will not be a generous one, I only put enough to make the popcorn "catch" with the countertop. If you want you can make a double portion, it's absolutely no problem, on the contrary. :))
We prepare the popcorn in the microwave, but you can also prepare it by the classic method, in the cauldron. Let it cool, then put it over the cake.
I put only a part of the pork, the rest I ate as such while waiting for the cake. 😀
We caramelize the sugar over low heat until it reaches the desired color. But be careful not to burn it too hard, otherwise it will become bitter. Carefully pour the whipping cream and stirring constantly, boil until the caramel melts and the composition thickens a little. At the end we add the butter. Let cool.
After the caramel has cooled, pour over the popcorn, the more messy the better. :))))
Put the cake in the fridge for about half an hour, as you can't stand it anymore :)) then portion it.
Good appetite dear ones! 😉
