A dessert that I make whenever we feel like nibbling on something sweet and whenever I have some egg whites gathered in the freezer. They are not my first meringues, I also made simple meringues or meringues with chocolate … This time I thought of the children and played with some colored balls. :)))
The children were delighted, they really liked these colorful meringues … but I liked them more, immersed in coffee. :)))
Ingredients:
- 4 egg whites
- 200 g sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons colored balls (for decoration)
Preparation Colored meringues:
Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt. When the foam becomes thick, add the sugar and vanilla sugar and mix until you get a shiny foam. Add the lemon juice and mix well. At the end we incorporate the colored notes, mixing lightly with a spatula, with movements from bottom to top.
Sprinkle meringue in a tray lined with baking paper,
then put it in the oven over low heat, with the oven door open. The meringues should be dried, not baked. It takes, I think, somewhere around 2 hours.
Allow to cool, then peel off the baking paper.
