When I received the theme of the week from Electrolux for the "Inspiration Food Marathon" – Swedish Delights – I thought I had been here. :)) Swedish cuisine is not very well known, although looking and reading about it I discovered some fantastic recipes.
For today I chose to prepare Janssons Frestelse , a traditional recipe that is in the preferences of the Swedes, being consumed especially at Christmas dinner. A simple and delicious recipe, which I found in several variants, some with anchovies, some with sprot. In the end, I chose the one that suited me :)))
- 4 medium potatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 can with anchovies (100 g)
- 200 ml of milk
- 200 g sour cream
- ~ 70 g butter
- salt and pepper
Method of preparation:
Peeled and washed potatoes are cut into very thin strips.
Cut the onion into juliennes. The handle is cut into suitable pieces.
Melt 50 g butter in a saucepan, add the onion and lightly fry it, without browning it.
In a bowl, mix the cream with the milk, then pour the pan over the onion. When it starts to boil, add the anchovies, then the potatoes.
Mix lightly, add salt and pepper if necessary and the canned juice. Boil for a few minutes, stirring a few times, so that it does not stick to the bottom.
Grease a heat-resistant dish with butter and pour the potato composition with fish. Cover with a generous layer of breadcrumbs and sprinkle a few pieces of butter.
Put the dish in the oven over medium heat for about 1 hour, until the preparation catches a golden crust.
I ended this hearty meal with a portion of Swedish Pancakes, the best and fluffiest pancakes ever eaten. 😉
I wish you good appetite! 🙂 And if you liked this recipe, don't forget to leave me a comment here on the blog or a like and comment on the Facebook page . Thank you.
