Turn the cheese into dough

The first step in the cheese roll recipe is to heat a pot of water, large enough to then insert the cheese completely into it. Leave the cheese in its own packaging and protect it additionally with a bag, which you will close as well as possible, to prevent water from entering.

Put the pot of water on the fire and heat until it starts to boil. Turn off the burner, put the cheese in boiling water, put a lid on and leave it like this for 30 minutes or until the cheese has softened enough to be rolled into an appetizer roll dough.

Form the cheese sheet

For this cheese roll, the base is the melted cheese sheet, which frames the rest of the ingredients. It is obtained quite easily, spreading with a twister the cheese soaked by heating, on a food foil, until you manage to define a sheet 5mm thick and a width of 20cm.

It must be well stretched to cover the entire surface, but the layer must not be very thick, because it will come out at the ends when you run. The same advice applies if you choose to replace cream cheese with pate or melted cheese.

Add slices of ham

Whether you opt for bacon, pressed ham or prosciutto, it is important that the slices are cut thin enough to roll easily. The easiest way is to buy the product already sliced when you decide to make this appetizer roll recipe.

Cover the entire surface of the cheese sheet with slices of ham, placed next to each other, without overlapping them.

Form the roll with cheese and let it cool

The appetizer roll with cheese is almost ready. All you have to do is roll the cheese sheet as tightly as you can, using the food foil, and wrap it tightly. These rolls need to be refrigerated for at least 3 hours before serving.

Cut and serve the appetizer roll with ham and cheese
