Romanian cremsnit dessert

I think cremsnit is one of the most well-known and appreciated cake recipes . However, I personally have done it a few times, and that many years ago. So it is that when the dwarves asked me to make them a good cake with vanilla cream , I gave in to the requests, the only condition being to let me choose what I will make the sheets or the countertop :))) I have I chose the most comfortable and easiest option, as I had puff pastry in the freezer, but whoever dares can also make puff pastry at home 😉

Romanian cremsnit dessert

  • 1 packet of puff pastry dough
  • Filling:
  • 4 yolks
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons starch
  • 500 ml of milk
  • 150 g butter
  • vanilla essence

How to prepare Cremsnit:

We put the puff pastry sheets in the big tray from the stove lined with baking paper, we prick them from place to place with a fork, so that they don't swell very much when baked. Bake over medium heat until golden brown. Remove to a grill and leave to cool.

Mix the yolks with the sugar until they turn white, then add the starch and mix well. Pour the milk, stirring lightly, and put the bowl on low heat. Without boiling, boil the composition over low heat until it thickens. Set aside and leave to cool, stirring occasionally so that no pojghita is formed.

In the cooled pudding, incorporate the beaten butter, adding a tablespoon and mixing well after each one. At the end we flavored with vanilla essence.

In a tray lined with food foil put one of the sheets, put the vanilla cream in an even layer and cover with the second sheet. Wrap well in foil and refrigerate for a few hours, but the next day the cake is better, the sheets soften enough and can be portioned well and nicely 😉

I wish you good appetite and a beautiful weekend! >: D <
