There are many options for the cake recipe , but I do not deviate from my recipe when I want to make something sweet and fluffy. Besides the fact that it is very good, it can also be made with a bread machine, thus getting rid of the long kneading, the protection from drafts…
The dried fruits I used were cranberries, raspberries and strawberries. They can be replaced with shit or other dried fruit that you like.
- 2 eggs
- 10 g dry yeast
- 100 g sugar
- 200 ml of milk
- 60 g butter
- ~ 550 g flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon candied orange peel
- For the filling:
- 200 g dried fruit
Preparation Cozonac with dried fruits:
Mix the yeast with 1 tablespoon of sugar, a little warm milk and a little flour. Homogenize and leave in a warm place until it swells and blisters appear on the surface.
Put the mayonnaise in the pan of the bread machine, then add the eggs, the rest of the sugar, the salt, the melted and cooled butter, the orange peel, the remaining milk and the flour little by little. Depending on the type of flour, we will put more or less flour, 20-30 g and safety margin. Knead until all the ingredients are incorporated and obtain an elastic dough. Let it rise until it doubles in volume.
Remove the dough on a lightly floured or oiled table and spread it a little by hand. Put the dried fruit on top, fold the dough, then knead it until the fruits are evenly distributed.
Divide the dough into 2 parts that stretch in the form of rolls, which are then woven. Place in a pan greased with oil and lined with flour and leave to rise for 10-15 minutes. Grease with a beaten egg yolk with a little milk, then put in the oven over medium heat until golden brown.

Leave to cool in the pan, then take out on a grill. Cut after cooling very well.
