With the cold season, the first symptoms of flu and cold begin to appear. Don't let them ruin your joy and use the best natural fruit and vegetable juices to improve your body's defense system. Here's how to make them at home.
A diet rich in fruits and vegetables protects the body against cardiovascular disease and infections, improving the body's ability to defend itself. Among the nutrients recognized for stimulating the immune system are carotenoids, flavonoids and vitamin C, present in carrots, melons, tomatoes, apricots, peppers, celery, parsley, oranges, lemons, etc. It is therefore easy to understand the beneficial contribution that natural juices included in the diet bring.
Here are some delicious, fresh and easy to prepare combinations that can help you maintain your health naturally.
Oranges, apples and carrots
Oranges contain potassium, fiber and vitamin C, substances that keep the heart healthy and regulate blood pressure. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant, vitamins A, B6, B1, magnesium and folic acid, protecting the eyes, skin and nervous system, and apple juice is antiseptic, purifying and liver detoxifying.
Combining the three ingredients you get a pleasant and aromatic taste and a mixture that gives you an energy boost for the whole day and feeds your body with essential nutrients. To get 500ml of juice you need 2 medium-sized apples, 2 large carrots, 1 orange and, optionally, you can add a piece of ginger, about 1cm long. Ginger moves the blood, is a heart tonic and stimulates the metabolism, being ideal if you are on a diet.
So that the squeezing does not take too long, cut the fruit into small pieces, then add them to the food processor. If you find it too concentrated, you can add more water.
Pomegranate, red oranges and mince
Rich in amino acids, vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E and P), minerals (calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, silicon, manganese) and fiber, pomegranate helps keep your body healthy and strong in the cold season. Mineoles are an aromatic addition, just as effective, full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. In addition, they contain a greater amount of water than oranges or clementines, so if you have to make juice for more people they are a great idea. Red oranges add an exotic aroma and precious antioxidants that protect your body from disease.
For the juice, we recommend mixing the juice of 3 red oranges, 2 mince and a pomegranate. Pass the fruit one by one through the juicer, leaving the pomegranate behind, and then mix the juices obtained.
Lemon, oranges and ginger
Ginger is one of the best natural resources you can use in the cold season. Besides regulating cholesterol and stimulating metabolism, it also helps you get rid of cold feet syndrome, improving circulation. It has an anti-inflammatory effect and can successfully replace coffee when you feel tired.
Pass a piece of ginger through a grater, then 2 lemons and 4 oranges through a juicer and mix everything in a glass carafe. Avoid plastic containers as a solution for storing or serving natural juices, they are not the healthiest.
Beetroot of tomatoes, goji, apple and berries
For those who want to pay special attention to the liver around the holidays, while taking care to strengthen the body's defense system, we recommend a fresh and fragrant combination based on beets.
You need a medium-sized beet, peeled and cut into small pieces, a tablespoon of goji berries, half a large apple or a smaller whole apple cut into pieces and a pomegranate. Put everything in a blender and pass until you get a fine and frothy composition. Add as much water as you want for the consistency you prefer.
Lemon, honey and cayenne pepper
Cayenne pepper helps prevent migraines, protects against fungal infections, helps detoxify the body and is one of the best remedies for flu and colds, stimulating fluidization and elimination of mucus from the airways.
Honey provides you with a complete package of substances with antibiotic, antiseptic and antibacterial role, and lemon improves digestion, helps reduce fever and helps maintain the health of the circulatory system.
To obtain this mixture you need half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, a teaspoon of honey and four tablespoons of lemon juice, to which water is added until the glass is full. It is one of the simple recipes, for which you do not need the best citrus juicer , but only a model with a squeezing area narrow enough to allow the use of smaller lemons.
Carrot, beet, ginger and turmeric
Turmeric or Indian saffron is a spice sold in our country especially in powder form, but you can also find it as a root. It has a slightly bitter taste, slightly peppery and is very aromatic, being used most often in oriental recipes. It is one of the ingredients that is good to add to food or to combine in fresh fruit, if you want to protect the body against colds, reduce the inflammatory response or improve your memory. It is equally useful for reducing rheumatic pain and fluidizing the blood circulation.
For this juice you need about 10g of turmeric and 10g of ginger, preferably in the form of root, an orange, a beet, 3 medium-sized carrots and half a lemon.
Clean the ingredients and cut them into small pieces, then put them in the blender, strain and add water to get the desired texture.
Grapefruit and sea buckthorn
Richer in vitamin C than citrus fruits, with a substantial intake of Bs, carotenoids, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and other useful nutrients, sea buckthorn falls into the category of wonder foods that should not be missing from your diet, especially in the season cold.
For a tasty juice that you can serve anytime, we recommend combining a grapefruit with 200g of sea buckthorn and half a lemon in the juicer. To the juice obtained add a teaspoon of honey.
